Whiskey is a hard thing to stand in for, because so much of what you taste is barrel and heat. Ritual's answer leans on the flavors people actually associate with a bourbon pour. American oak, Madagascar vanilla, warm caramel, stone fruit and toasted spices carry the profile, while mesquite smoke and capsicum fruit do the work that proof normally does. The finish is meant to bite a little. It's built from filtered water, cane sugar, natural flavors, citric acid and caramel color, which puts a serving at 5 calories and 2 grams of carbs. Gluten free, under 0.5% ABV, roughly 17 servings to the 750ml bottle. Ritual says outright that it isn't made to be sipped neat or over ice, which is honest of them. Use it one to one in an old fashioned, a whiskey sour, a Manhattan, a smash or a mint julep, or stretch it long with cola or soda water.
