The name points to a cicada species, though ALTD is perfectly happy if you think of your local fruiterer instead. Supporting local is the whole point either way. This is the brand's gin-style bottle, and rather than copying a London juniper recipe it works from wild-crafted, ethically sourced Australian natives. Lemon peel and New South Wales lemon myrtle drive the punchy top notes. Native thyme, rosemary and aniseed myrtle handle the herbal middle. Organic Western Australian sandalwood brings woody vanilla depth, and a locally farmed ghost chilli with Tasmanian pepperberry delivers a long, genuinely spicy finish. The build is simple. Water, copper distilled botanicals, hand-made native extracts, citric acid and potassium sorbate. Nothing artificial, no sugar, no gluten, no calories, made in Marrickville in Sydney's inner west. Serve 50ml over plenty of ice, top with a good Australian tonic, and garnish with a lemon slice and a sprig of thyme.
