Bonbuz isn't trying to imitate a specific spirit, which is what separates it from most of this shelf. Founder Fay built it as its own thing after deciding alcohol wasn't working for her, and the flavour goes its own way too. Bitter citrus lands first, gentian and ginger root pull earthy underneath it, and there's a cola note on the nose that most people clock as familiar before they can name it. The ingredient list is the other half of the pitch. Each 2oz serving carries more than 950mg of nootropics, adaptogens and amino acids including L-tyrosine, rhodiola rosea, 5-HTP and ginger root extract, plus caffeine from green tea. A caffeine free version exists if that matters. One serving is 20 calories with 1g of sugar, gluten free and vegan. Don't drink it neat. Bonbuz says so themselves, it's a spirit and not a juice. Build it into a spritz with soda and grapefruit peel, or use it where you'd reach for an amaro.
