Fred Koch Brewery
Fred Koch Brewery was a historic independent American brewery founded in 1888 in Dunkirk, New York, that brewed a variety of beers and ales for nearly a century, with production peaking in the 1950s at over 100,000 barrels annually. The family‑run brewery became known for regional favorites like Deer Run Ale, Holiday Beer, and Koch’s Golden Anniversary, building a loyal following before closing its Dunkirk operations in 1985. Today the Genesee Brewing Company owns the Fred Koch trademark and, while it doesn’t actively produce under the original Koch name, the brand has occasionally appeared on products such as a non‑alcoholic Penn’s Best beer labeled under the Fred Koch Brewing Co. name.
