When you think of a hot toddy, you probably picture a steaming mug of tea, whiskey, and lemon. It's the classic remedy for a cold night or a nagging cough.…
About Tim
Tim Katzgrau is the founder and developer of NA Beer Finder, which he founded in 2023. It's now the world's largest directory of venues serving non-alcoholic drinks. After a serious health crisis that landed him in the ICU with acute pancreatitis and liver failure, Tim quit drinking and discovered how difficult it was to find NA options at restaurants and bars.
What started as a personal phone list evolved into a searchable website—initially just a single HTML file with a zip code field. Through sheer determination and technical skill, Tim built the platform into what it is today: over 1 million verified venues and 1,000+ NA brands serving 10,000+ users across 150+ countries.
When operating costs reached $1,200/month, Tim made a dramatic decision: he sold his possessions and relocated to lower-cost countries like Vietnam and Albania to keep the platform running. His commitment to making NA options accessible is personal—this isn't just a business, it's a mission born from lived experience.
What He's Built
- Built NA Beer Finder from scratch—starting with a single HTML file and web scrapers
- Developed both web platform and mobile apps (iOS/Android) serving users worldwide
- Created the world's largest NA venue database: 1+ million verified locations
- Aggregates data from Google reviews, venue websites, and community submissions
- Serves 10,000+ users across 150+ countries helping people find NA options nearby
- Maintains a subscription model ($19.99/year) that funds platform growth and expansion
Mission
Tim's mission is simple: make it easy to find non-alcoholic options wherever you are. Most restaurants don't list NA beverages online, forcing people to call ahead or show up and hope for the best. NA Beer Finder solves this problem by aggregating venue data and making it searchable in one place.
Looking ahead, Tim envisions expanding beyond beer into mocktails, NA spirits, wine, and even THC beverages and functional drinks as the alcohol-free space continues to grow. The goal is a world where choosing not to drink never means settling for soda or water.
