In 1651, a physician named John French published "The Art of Distillation," documenting these non-alcoholic recipes. Around the same time, a family in Lincolnshire began farming, manually sowing seeds using baskets known as 'seedlips.'

Centuries later, Ben Branson discovered John French's recipes. Inspired by this knowledge and being a natural tinkerer, he acquired a small copper still and started experimenting with distilling herbs from his garden at home.

After a few months, while dining at an upscale London restaurant, Ben ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail and was disappointed to receive a pink, sugary drink that didn't complement the meal or the ambiance. This experience marked the beginning of two meticulous years dedicated to perfecting Seedlip—a blend of Ben's farming heritage, love for nature and design, and the demand for a sophisticated non-alcoholic option.

The Seedlip Process

Years of work led to the creation of Seedlip's unique maceration, distillation, filtration, and blending process. Each botanical ingredient is individually distilled before blending, resulting in a liquid that is free of alcohol and sugar.

Ben launched Seedlip Spice 94 at London's Selfridges on November 4th, 2015. His first batch of 1,000 handmade bottles sold out within three weeks, the second batch in three days, and the third batch in just 30 minutes online.
